Last night on flight 1869 from Charlotte to Nashville I was seated in seat 22c, the very back pew. I usually try to get a seat nearer to the front but not this time, I couldn't make it happen. There was no place to store my carry-on suitcase near my seat. The seat didn't recline. There was a less than pleasant smell at the back of the plane. The ride was rough due to the stormy weather. And the people next to me didn't want to include me in their conversation. They were talking about drinking and partying: the good life. When I could take it no more I asked them this question.
" How have we come to this place as a society that we promote destruction in the family with alcohol?"
My question might have been a little serious but it changed the direction of their conversation, actually they stopped talking about drinking altogether. For the next 20 minutes it was like I wasn't there. Then the young girl next to me, (a 20 year old single mother who had recently lost a baby at 16 weeks) began to talk with me. We talked about Angels and beaches and life stuff. We talked about her boyfriend and her church. We talked about Jesus. Then something interesting happened...
Remember I said the weather was bad, it was a rough ride. The attendants attempted to serve their guest coffee and water and such, but decided the situation was not favorable. But wouldn't you know, the people on the back pew (Row 22) did get served. In seat 22c I got to talk about Jesus and He gave me a glass of apple juice.......... now I find that interestingly amazing!
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your cross and for your strength and for your apple juice. Amen.

Thanks for being His orchard, so that a young soul could taste and see that the Lord is Good!
